Description

This affordable and portable rigid heddle loom is quick and easy to use. Everything is included in the kit. Quick and easy to assemble and warp. The rigid heddle is a great introduction to hand weaving but is also very versatile.  From creating beautiful and unique garments and homewares to using colour and texture you can weave unique fabric and create beautiful designs. The loom can also make woven tapestries and wall hangings. Made from Silver Beech hardwood the loom is very strong and robust. It comes ready for a second heddle: the extra heddle block is already fitted, so just add a second reed to weave more complex structures like twill and overshot. If you have an older Ashford rigid heddle loom, a second heddle kit adds this option.

- affordable and versatile
- quick and easy to warp and weave
- portable
- double heddle option
- 4 widths
- 6 reed options

What's included

Included accessories: 7.5dpi (30/10cm) reed, 2 x shuttles, threading hook, warping peg and clamps, step-by-step instruction booklet.

Flip the loom over and you'll find holes for indirect warping, so it doubles as its own warping board. The dowels for this are sold separately as Rigid Heddle Warp Pegs.

Sourcing & Materials

Sustainable sourcing

The equipment I stock comes from makers I respect — Ashford, Schacht, Majacraft — who build things designed to last decades, not seasons. The fibre is Tasmanian where I can source it, because buying from down the road is the most straightforward version of this. I won't stock something I don't believe in, which means the range is deliberately small.

What I'd use myself

Everything in the store has been through the same filter: would I use this myself? If the answer is no, it doesn't make it onto the website. That means the range is deliberately narrow — there are no products here to fill a gap or round out a catalogue. What's here is here because I'd stake my own time and reputation on it.

Wool miles

Fibre has a journey before it reaches you — where it was grown, where it was shorn, where it was processed, and how far it travelled at each stage. I think you deserve to know that. Where I can tell you the origin, I will. Where I can source locally, I do. This isn't a marketing position — it's just what honest dealing looks like.
