Dye Your OwnDye Your Own Yarn - 1 Day

Description

Learn to dye your own yarn, fibre (or both!) These on-demand workshops are designed for flexibility and to work into your schedule. Contact us to book a day (or days) that work for you.

Walk away from the workshop having learnt how to transform plain wool into vibrant, unique colours that make you happy, how to transform that unloved skein of yarn that's been languishing in the bottom of your stash cupboard, and gain a greater appreciation for all the indie-dyed skeins in the yarnosphere.

Best suited for up to 4 people, for you and and 1 - 3 friends. Pick your chosen class from our carefully curated menu, let us know what date works best for you and we 'll create a workshop experience tailored just for your group.

Dye Another Day offers 2 options: Learn to dye your own yarn or Learn to Dye your own  fibre (combed top and fleece) as either a one day experience or immersive 2 day experience.

Details

The One Day Workshop runs for 4.5 - 5 hours depending on the number of people attending.

The Immersive Experience is spread over two days and each workshop runs 6 hours

Both workshops include morning/afternoon tea.

Materials

You will receive a materials list when you book your workshop. Almost everything you need to begin your yarn/fibre journey will be provided. You only need to bring along an apron and mask.

Sourcing & Materials

Sustainable sourcing

The equipment I stock comes from makers I respect — Ashford, Schacht, Majacraft — who build things designed to last decades, not seasons. The fibre is Tasmanian where I can source it, because buying from down the road is the most straightforward version of this. I won't stock something I don't believe in, which means the range is deliberately small.

What I'd use myself

Everything in the store has been through the same filter: would I use this myself? If the answer is no, it doesn't make it onto the website. That means the range is deliberately narrow — there are no products here to fill a gap or round out a catalogue. What's here is here because I'd stake my own time and reputation on it.

Wool miles

Fibre has a journey before it reaches you — where it was grown, where it was shorn, where it was processed, and how far it travelled at each stage. I think you deserve to know that. Where I can tell you the origin, I will. Where I can source locally, I do. This isn't a marketing position — it's just what honest dealing looks like.
